After a challenging and isolating first half of the year, we were thrilled to host many of the lawyerbank team for our Mid Year Dinner at the gorgeous La Cantina restaurant. An abundance of fine Italian food and wine combined with vivacious company made for a stellar evening... and most of us escaped unscathed from the fire breathing, guillotine-wielding magician 🎩 🙄 A big congratulations to John Kelly and one of our power couples, Katrina Terei and Suren Goonewardene, who each took home a Penfolds Grange to mark their 300 days on secondment!

At lawyerbank, we reward experienced lawyers with flexible working arrangements and great pay. And that has not changed since COVID-19 entered our lives. Unlike many law firms, lawyerbank is not implementing any staff or pay cuts. As our business is government-centric, demand for our lawyers remains strong as the Commonwealth implements new policies and programs. In a time when many businesses are doing it tough, we are very grateful to be able to continue to recruit, receive new requests and onboard lawyers to new roles, each week. As an employment proposition, we are fortunate to have a model that is not only resilient, but well equipped for times like these, without needing to ask any of our lawyers to “take one for the team”.

On this International Women’s Day we want to recognise two of the amazing women in the lawyerbank team who recently achieved significant milestones. Firstly, congratulations to Rebecca Petterson for her promotion to Senior Associate and her two year anniversary with lawyerbank! It’s been a busy two years, with Bec undertaking secondments at the Grains Research and Development Corporation and the Departments of Defence, Finance, Human Services and Home Affairs. Also a big shout out to Sandra Henderson-Kelly for being our first lawyer to hit the 700 secondment days milestone! A fantastic achievement since joining the team in 2016 and we were delighted to present Sandra with a $1,500 voucher to enjoy at Bannisters in Mollymook. Thank you to all of the inspiring women who choose to work at lawyerbank and Happy International Women’s Day!

And that’s a wrap! We love to conclude our CPD intensive by dressing up and enjoying some wining and dining in the beautiful settings the Southern Highlands has to offer. Getting away with our team to learn about fascinating legal topics amongst the wineries is really a highlight of our year. We are so fortunate to have such an engaged, enthusiastic and fun-loving team at lawyerbank
